What’s up folks! Welcome to the third volume of my blogging for the Undergraduate Admissions office at NC State University. If you’ve read what I’ve written before you’ll know that I love writing about the major sporting events at NC State, especially the basketball games. If you’ve followed anything about NC State athletics in the past twelve months, you’ll know that last year was awesome for the Wolfpack. An exciting football season that ended with a great win over the University of Louisville, an excellent revamped basketball season that ended in the sweet sixteen and a super-regional appearance against Florida in the baseball post season. Wolfpack alumni, students and fans are all pleased with last year and stoked for what is in store for this year. But enough about the Pack as I am certain I will talk about them a lot this year and instead a little about me!

A friend, my roommate and I at a game last winter

My name is John Taylor and I am a junior in Computer Science at NCSU! This is my third year as a blogger and intern in the Office of Admissions. I spent this summer working at the front desk of the Admissions office, answering phone calls and working a real 8 to 5 job all summer. It was nice learning what life could be like in the future, but I am ready to get back to the school schedule. When I wasn’t at the desk, I was enjoying the comfort of my backyard pool, or visiting the beach at friends’ places. I also took a trip to Michigan this summer, where I stayed a week on the campus of Michigan State University. At MSU I competed in a national grass dance competition, where I placed fifth. Grass dancing is something that I have been doing since I was 12, so after 8 years of work this was an excellent honor.

The top 11 at NOAC this summer. Can you find me?

This year on campus I am going to play the second most popular sport in the world, I am going to play Rugby for the NC State club team. It will be difficult to balance work, school and the demanding sport of rugby, but I am going to give it a shot. I am also still heavily involved with the Boy Scouts, as I am President of our dinner club that we have for members of the Order of the Arrow who attend NC State. Finally I am also playing intramural flag football with a team named the Nighthawks. I don’t know who picked the name, but I suppose I’ll go with it.

yeah, I made national tv, no big deal

This year in the Admissions Office the interns will each have their own twitter accounts where we will update you, the prospective students and anyone else interested in following us, about life as an NC State student. It should be quite the ride and I invite you to join along, my handle is @NCSU_john. Go follow me and comment on my blogs! Go Pack!
